Some deadly effects of hyper tension

Hyper tension is a very common condition affecting at least one in three of every American. Hypertension can be easily diagnosed by testing the blood pressure. If it above the normal ranges of 80-120, you can be sure that you are under the grip of hyper tension. There can be many reasons for the formation of hyper tension.

Some of the most common reasons are detailed below.

  • Lack of exercise
  • Poor diet
  • Drug addiction
  • Smoking
  • Lack of proper nutrients
  • Side effects of medication

Now let us take a brief look at the some of the complications associated with high blood pressure.

Atherosclerosis

This is also known as artery disease. This is very common side effect of hypertension and it damages the lining on the walls of the arteries. This eventually makes the arteries hardened and thereby creates blockage to normal blood flow.

Stroke

As a result of blood pressure some parts of the brain are deprived of nutrients and other important requirements like oxygen.  This leads to the death of otherwise healthy brain cells. High blood pressure narrows and weakens blood vessels as a result of non receipt of enough oxygen. This leads to strokes and other important and fatal medical conditions.

Heart disease

As heart is the pumping machine of blood throughout the body, hypertension can lead to enlargement of left portion of the heart leading to affect heart’s ability to pump blood. Irregular heartbeats and even heart attacks can also be caused as a result of hyper tension.

Eye disease

High blood pressure can result in the complete damage of tiny blood vessels in the eyes leading to retinopathy. Retinopathy can cause blurred vision, or even loss of vision. The optic nerve can also be damaged as a result of high blood pressure.

Kidney disease

Kidneys carry out the function of filtering out impurities from blood. Due high blood pressure,  blood flows faster through kidneys resulting much larger volume of blood to be cleaned. This can lead to wearing out of the kidneys. It may also result in kidney failure.

Diabetes

Hyper tension can fasten the side effects of diabetes.   As said earlier hyper tension can damage arteries. Diabetes joints hands with hypertension and fastens the damages and destruction of the arteries. Diabetes also reduces the circulation of blood which is also a side effect associated with hyper tension.

Erectile dysfunction

During sexual erosion blood rushes to erectile tissues and causes its enlargement. High blood pressure can lead to problems in erection making it difficult for men to achieve and maintain erection. This happens as a result of the reduced blood flow to the genitals caused by the hypertension.
